#66DaysofData — Day 9
No brick walls were hit today. Rather, it felt like a very standard and level day with no peaks and no drops. Just another day of work. I feel like I earned another brick to add to my foundation of learning. Module 2 was an introduction to control flows (if, elif, and else statements). Although the material was very familiar, the additional background information and flow charts provided a missing piece to my understanding of these tools.
While and for loops were explained in a way that I hadn’t been exposed to previously and clarified their application significantly. Break and continue statements were a new addition for me as well.
Reflecting on this module, I was struck by the limits to search based + copy and paste based learning. When you don’t know what you don’t know, it’s near impossible to identify and fill gaps in knowledge. I am learning that despite some of the repetition, there is value in a structured approach to learning.
Another key learning for me is recognizing gaps in my attention. I have found on more than one occasion that I try to multi-task or my attention deviates from the lesson material. Reflecting on this, even if my learning is marginal, the practice of focusing and holding my attention on one thing exclusively will benefit future learning and project goals.
Cheers to a standard day and showing up!
